Alison Leigh Cowan spent 27 years as a staff reporter and editor for The New York Times before leaving the paper in 2015. She has published 1,800 articles on everything from corn hustling to public corruption, working her way up from lowly copygirl through the reporting and editing ranks.
These days, she does research for books and projects that interest her. She most recently served as editor of the newly published book How to Survive Your Freshman Year of College, 6th edition.
