Carolyn Gould, MD, a medical epidemiologist and infectious-disease specialist in the division of health-care quality promotion at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and an assistant professor of medicine at Emory University, both in Atlanta. Her research interests include the prevention of antibiotic resistance and health-care-associated infections, including those from Clostridium difficile.
