There are several treatments available for prostate cancer, so how do you decide which is best for you? In this video, Dr. Geo Espinosa, ND, LAc, IFMCP, CNS, clinical assistant professor of integrative and functional urology at New York University and author of Thrive—Don’t Survive: Dr. Geo’s Guide to Living Your Best Life Before & After Prostate Cancer, explains that it depends on the specifics of the case. With low-grade prostate cancer, Dr. Geo recommends active surveillance, lifestyle changes and other treatment protocols as needed. With intermediate prostate cancer, surgery is warranted. In more advanced cases, hormone therapy also might be necessary. The more questions you ask your doctor, the more information you will have to help you make this decision. Be wary of relying on Internet sources—they are not always reliable—and always seek second and third opinions to ensure that you are getting the most accurate and complete information about your condition.
