Did you know that foods, smells and a poke to your upper lip can help boost your memory? If you can’t for the life of you remember that important detail, try one (or more) of these quick fixes…

Scents to keep you sharp: Crush about a handful of caraway seeds, and take a whiff (or two or three). It’s said to strengthen the memory. And for us, it seems to work. Try the same thing with lightly crushed coriander seeds and whole cloves—see which of these three scents makes you feel sharpest.

Mind-boosting snack: If you have to think on your feet (when giving a speech or participating in a quiz show), grab a handful of raw pumpkin seeds and munch away. Tyrosine, an amino acid found in pumpkin seeds, helps your mind work like a well-oiled machine.

Focal point for wisdom: When you need on-the-spot smarts, put your index finger on the Renzhong (the acupressure point in the middle of your philtrum, which is the spot between your nose and upper lip). Press in and stay that way for 30 seconds. Breathe deeply and feel your mind becoming calm and focused.
