Quick fix for pinkeye — and worth trying before calling your doctor: Place your thumb and index finger just below the bridge of the nose, where the pads of eyeglasses would rest. Gently massage the area. Then soak a clean washcloth in warm water, wring it out and place it over one eye for 10 minutes. Repeat with the other eye. Do this three or four times a day. These steps can unblock tear ducts so that the body clears up a minor infection itself. Results should be noticeable within a few hours. If the condition does not improve by then, call your doctor.
