Medical marijuana is a safe and effective treatment for many health issues facing the elderly, including depression and lack of appetite. However, many people are either unaware of this treatment or reluctant to discuss it with their physicians because of the stigma that still surrounds marijuana. In this video, Dr. David Sherer, anesthesiologist and author of Bottom Line’s What Your Doctor Isn’t Telling You blog, suggests that many people are already aware of the beneficial effects of cannabis and that seniors will come to understand that this is a legitimate medication as doctors continue to recommend this avenue of treatment. Further, doctors can work with patients to determine the form of cannabis—edible, tincture, vapor, etc.—that is most effective for them.
