In this video, Dr. Johanna Youner, board-certified podiatric surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, discusses her favorite foot soaks. For pain or discomfort, soak feet in Epsom salts and comfortably warm water for 20 minutes. For relaxation, mix the Epsom salts with some lavender and soak feet for the same length of time. To counteract foot odor, add vinegar, garlic cloves or alcohol to the water. If you have a problem with foot perspiration, use Domeboro with your soak. To moisturize the feet, add a product specifically intended for this purpose such as uric, lactic or salicylic acid.
