Hospital patients typically are subjected to a battery of medical tests, and it can be difficult to tell if all of these costly, time-consuming and sometimes risky tests are necessary. In this video, Dr. David Sherer, anesthesiologist and author of Bottom Line’s What Your Doctor Isn’t Telling You blog, suggests ways in which hospital patients can cut through this confusion and get the answers they need—and deserve. Be sure to ask your doctor or hospitalist why each test is being done and what the risks are. Also, be sure to verify that any tests will be covered by your insurance.
