
Louis J. Aronne, MD, FACP
Louis J. Aronne, MD, FACP, is the Sanford I. Weill Professor of Metabolic Research and director of the Comprehensive Weight Control Center at Weill Cornell Medical College, and adjunct professor at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, all in New York City. He is vice-chairman of the board of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, served as consultant to the VA Weight Management/Physical Activity Executive Council in the development of the nation’s largest medically-based weight control program and has won several awards for medical teaching, including The Leo Davidoff Society Lifetime Achievement Award in Education from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and The Elliot Hochstein Teaching Award from Cornell University. Dr. Aronne has authored more than 60 papers and book chapters on obesity and edited the National Institutes of Health’s Practical Guide to the Identification, Evaluation, and Treatment of Overweight and Obesity in Adults.
